Ministry means service.
So a ministry is a way to serve God and other people. We seek to be very intentional at the Resurrection. All of our ministries exist to help achieve our calling: to be a gospel-centered church, trusting god in worship, training, and mission. This happens through our ministries, and our partnerships.
- Any growing church needs volunteers to help with our ministries. If you are ready to get your hands dirty and help, be sure to check out our volunteering page.
- It is our joy to serve you! All our ministries are ways that we seek to serve others.
- Below is a list of our ongoing ministries at The Resurrection, organized according to Worship, Training & Mission.
- We first mention our teaching and resourcing ministries, for the sake of putting information in one place. But this page primarily points to our team ministries.
We consider our Worship Sunday services, worship sermon series, worship, prayer & fasting resources all to be vital worship ministries of our church. All these things are designed to help us know Christ deeply, and give our whole heart to him.

Pastor James leads us by offering many kinds of training (discipleship) ministries, including sermons, numerous training resources, and his periodic blog articles. (Kristin writes these, too!) Discipleship-oriented training is vital to all we do at the Resurrection.
But our team training ministries are really the heart of our church. These include:
Being faithful witnesses and servants on Mission Sundays is a foundational ministry of our church. During Mission Sundays, are the times when many of our people first learn to share Jesus.
Another helpful ministry is the various mission resources we offer, such as our Gospel Belief Questions for evangelism discussion. Mission involves reaching those around us with the Gospel and the loving good it brings. This means evangelism (sharing the Gospel), physical service, healing, and relationship building.
And at the Resurrection, our long-range primary mission field is the 30 communities in the American Bottom river valley. But we're a small, young church, and we don't want to get ahead of ourselves. At this early stage, our prayer is to succeed in reaching the people of downtown Granite City. The team mission ministries listed below are a part of our strategy to make that happen.
